Please join us on September 29th, for a conversation on Neighbourhood Climate Action: How we can engage & empower citizens to scale-up climate solutions with Dr. Stephen Sheppard as he discusses the increasing visibility of climate threats and the need for urgent local action. He will explore the positive collective solutions and resilient neighbourhoods, while sharing research and success stories in BC neighbourhood engagement, how to get involved in local climate action plans and how we can move towards a strategy for social mobilization.  

Dr. Sheppard is Professor Emeritus with UBC’s Faculty of Forestry. He has 40 years of experience in environmental and climate change planning, urban forestry, public involvement and visualization.  He established UBC’s Urban Forestry program and directs the Collaborative for Advanced Landscape Planning (CALP), an action-research group which fosters awareness and action on local climate change solutions.  Based on his book Visualizing Climate Change, CALP has developed fun visual learning tools & training programs for empowering climate champions, including the Oak Bay Coolkit,  Cool ‘Hood Champs, and a Micro-Certificate on Climate Action and Community Engagement. 

Please note, we will be serving a light breakfast. Entry will cost $25 per person and $10 per student, payment will be collected at the door.
