Dear friends & neighbours,
I am thrilled to let you know that our in-person MP Breakfast Connections are now back by popular demand! To the many who have spoken to me personally – or called my office to ask when this event was coming back – we look forward to seeing you on Friday, July 28th at 7:30AM.
Please join us in a conversation “On Legacy Making” with Dr. Carole Christopher as she discusses the place of seniors in Canadian society, and how to begin shifting our notion of people over a certain age – from “retiree” to “guiding elder”. This learning from Indigenous tradition & practice can help us better develop, utilize, and honour some of our society’s untapped resources.
Dr. Christopher currently serves as a Director, executive team member and guiding elder of the Society Promoting Environmental Conservation (SPEC) in Vancouver Quadra. In this capacity, she oversees a program funded by the New Horizons for Seniors, designed to equip Elders to bring more of their age-related skills, experience, and wisdom to the role of Organizational Guiding Elders. In recent years, Dr. Christopher has been recognized by the City of Vancouver for her thirty-five years of volunteer work in the community and is the recipient of the Vancouver Award of Excellence in the category of Healthy City For All. In her free time, Dr. Christopher is a master gardener, enthusiastic camper, and an avid jazz vocalist.
Please note, that due to an increase in food costs and new ownership at Aphrodite’s, we will be serving a continental breakfast.
My Breakfast Connections team is happy to have Dr. Carole Christopher kick off our MP Breakfast program. I look forward to the discussion and to reconnecting with you in person!
Warmly,
Hon. Joyce Murray, P.C., M.P.
Member of parliament for Vancouver Quadra
