Mr. Speaker, it is my pleasure to join the many Canadians celebrating lunar new year Lunar New Year, and I to take this occasion to acknowledge the important role and contributions of Asian-Canadian communities in Canada.

In 2019, we celebrate the Year of the Pig, an animal symbolizing wealth and good fortune. During this time of new beginnings, we reflect on successes of the past year and look toward new opportunities.

In Vancouver Quadra, the University Neighbourhoods Association always hosts a colourful and fun family event event, and in Vancouver, Chinatown's Lunar New Year Festival day is legendary. I cannot wait to attend these and many other celebrations to mark the lunar new year Lunar New Year with friends and constituents.

I wish all Canadians a successful Year of the Pig, replete with peace, happiness, good health, and great prosperity. Xin nian kuai le; gong hay fat choy.
