Government Protects Southern Resident Killer Whales

October 26, 2017 – Ottawa – Office of Joyce Murray

The proposed amendments will include:

The government is committed to doing what is necessary to help keep these two species from harm. Through broad consultation with Canadians, scientists, and industry the Government of Canada has developed these regulations. This complements the $1.5 billion Oceans Protection Plan and Bill C-48 which formalizes a moratorium for oil tankers on British Columbia’s north coast.
