Vancouver Quadra Constituency Youth Council Invites All Young Canadians to Join
Aug 8th, 2021
What is the CYC? The CYC is a group of young people that meet together with Joyce Murray MP and her staff to learn about Canada’s political process, discuss their viewpoints on issues, and most importantly, get involved in their communities. Projects undertaken by past CYCs have ranged from food drives to multimedia projects. Issues they have worked on include climate change, gender equality, and youth employment. This year’s CYC will have the chance to build on these efforts as well as embark on new projects that positively impact their communities.
When does it meet? The CYC meets monthly from September through June. Meetings are usually held on the weekend.
Why have a CYC? This is why Joyce Murray thinks the CYC is important: “Giving youth a voice is vital to our government. A youth perspective brings new light to issues touching our community and our country. The CYC in Vancouver Quadra is working hard to be the youth voice for our community, and as your Member of Parliament I intend to bring this perspective with me to Ottawa.”
Who Can Apply? Any individuals between the ages of 13-24 who live or study in Vancouver Quadra are welcome to apply for the CYC.
