Under the Quarantine Act, isolation after returning from abroad is now MANDATORY and enforceable through criminal penalties and fines.
Additionally, individuals who exhibit symptoms on arrival in Canada are forbidden also from using public transit to travel to their places of self-isolation. They will also be forbidden to self-isolate in a place where they will be in contact with vulnerable people.

Financial Support for Canadians Abroad
COVID-19 Emergency Loan Program for Canadians Abroad: Canadians abroad directly impacted by COVID-19 will have the option of applying for an emergency loan of up to $5,000 to help secure their timely return to Canada and to temporarily cover their life-sustaining needs while they work toward their return.
