Dear Friends and Neighbours,
I hope you’re enjoying the warm and sunny spring weather this year! Spring has brought important news for me: it was my great honour to be appointed President of the Treasury Board and Minister of Digital Government by the Prime Minister.
As the government’s purse, Treasury Board reviews and approves federal government spending, regulations and appointments. It sets the rules and oversees accountability for how people, technology and government assets are managed, and it acts as the employer of Canada’s public service. I am especially looking forward to working on Digital Government, to transform government systems so public servants can use innovative digital tools to offer better service to Canadians.
My role also includes responsibility for the future of Canada’s regulatory roadmap. As a former businesswoman, I know how frustrating unnecessary red tape can be. I will work with the business community and others to modernize regulations so it’s easier for businesses to grow and flourish while protecting health, safety and the environment.
Lastly, the Centre for Greening Government, an initiative I led as Parliamentary Secretary, will continue its mission to lead by example and make Canada’s government operations greener and more climate compliant than ever!
Best regards,
Joyce
